The group headed East along the East Timori road travelling into Nova Vossa. Along the path they encountered an obvious area where soldiers were camping, to the south were massive bluffs, and further to the east was the city of Liara. The story was set, Lily was the merchant, Doukan (Krajka’s name for here) was her servant hired to guard the wagon.
Before even entering the gates it was prevalent what Liara was, a money well. The goods in the wagon were taxed pretty fairly but heavily no doubt. With a some smooth talking from Lily and a few bridals the rest of the group was not taxed for their personal belongings, even Doukan carrying many more weapons than one would normally need. The next stop inside the town was to the guard where everyone’s weapons would be peace bound with a red ribbon, strong as rope.
One glance around at the city folk and anyone could see these were a sickly people. Covered in ash and soot and riddled with disease the people scurried like rodents through the city, and this was the nicer parts. Entering a little further into town the group pulled over by a group of boys who were calling out selling their maps. The group a bit too over zealous bought 4 maps and tipped the boys generously. With money in their eyes and intentions unknown one of the boys started to follow the group as they went on their way.
Lily went ahead of the group to “change” and go back to distract the boy while the wagon carried on. They agreed to meet back up just past the prison where Lily told them he found the boy and gave him a message to send to his master, sending him scurrying away. Their tail out of the way they then proceeded to head towards the Rut to find lodging for at least the night. They found one that had “better” looking people heading into it and decided that would be their best bet at least for the night.
Having rented rooms and locking up the wagon the group then headed towards the Staggering Stallion where they said they would meet Karsten. Lily “changed” again to a non descript persona to go ahead and scout the area out and then rejoined the group just to the west of the entrance. Spending a bridal they were able to bypass the line and finally make it in. A quick glance around showed this was a place for everyone’s indulgences to be met in one place and their bridals be taken.
The first room was a large gaming hall with gaming tables spread throughout. Not wanting to play any games just yet the group went into the dining area to get a bite to eat. The meat, although cooked and spiced well had a slightly ashy taste to back it up. Scanning the area for Karsten and not seeing him they decided to ask the info desk if there was some area where people usually meet. The clerk said the best place to look for someone would be to get a ticket to the third floor of the fight and look down among the crowd. Then asked them if there was someone in particular they were looking for. Karsten having his bright red hair was easily recognizable by the clerk and he said that the red haired man has been walking around promoting the main fight for the night.
The group bought their tickets for the fight and headed to the next floor. Upon entering they quickly saw the red hair popping around talking to everyone and anyone that he could on that floor. Catching Karsten’s eye he immediately ran over to them excited and surprised to see the group. He didn’t have much time to talk witht hem yet and catch up, however he did say that he met a friend of his from a while ago and that was who he was supporting tonight in the fight. He called him a beast and told the group they should bet on him as he should win. They agreed to meet up afterwards below to catch up and off he went to promote the fight more.
While waiting for the main event Arden went off and explored the Staggering Stallion a bit more while Doukan played his hand at betting on some of the exhibition fights, losing a little money in the process. The bell rang indicating the start of the main fight. The first fighter, Oleg, was announced and jogged down the caged hall into his bench. He was a hairy man with a strong build and had what appeared to be blood dripping from his mouth. The challenger, Bellrauthien, was then introduced. A 6’3 “man” came strutting down the hall. He skin was a grayish green color, he was completely bald and had a bit of an under bite with his canines protruding from his lower lip slightly. His arms were longer than average with his fingertips coming down almost to his knees. Looking at his hands it was visible that he had blood-soaked claws at his fingertips. He walked out with his arms held wide and coiled across was a snake that was maybe 7 or 8 feet long. Before the fight started the announcer blessed the fight (also casting detect magic and detect poison)and for once the fighting arena became slightly quiet.
The fight began with both participants letting out roars at each other and then Oleg landing the first couple punches. Bellrauthien then followed up by slashing with his claws straight across Oleg’s chest. This was when Oleg showed where he was superior. He came in close and grappled Bellrauthien getting him in painful locks while occasionally being jabbed at by Bellrauthien’s clawed hands. The beast realized if he didn’t do something quick the grappling expert would take him and with a seeming burst of adrenaline landed two more quick blows to Oleg dropping him in a bloody pulp and winning the fight. He let out a guttural roar again throwing his hands to the air. Both fighters healing assistants quickly came out attending to their respective clients and the beast’s snake rejoined his master.
