April 7th, the year 751 BC (continued)
What a catastrophe. It’s clear Lemot’s not dead. I know this is some sort of repeating tragedy. I’m certain of it. Apparently no one believes me though.
We’re heading down the stairs and I heard a strange muffled commotion and grating sound. I thought it was Lemot poking out the walls and attacking the survivors. Nope, I found out what it was personally. The halls can move. It moved around me and I had to catch myself twice not to get smacked in the face or fall. I think it’s Lemot, messing with us.
I mock him, his play, tell him to show himself, send a message, anything. Provoking doesn’t work. Well he’s not getting a good review no matter what he does. I’m alone though. I say I’m going back but I head on. I look for secret doors or catches but all I find is a seam along the walls and floor. More shiftable halls. How wonderful.
I stopped and listened, but nothing. I watched and waited, but nothing. I continue on, checking with my lights and finding little until I walk into a large room with a 60’ ceiling. There’s Arden, drawing on the floor. His name and numbers? Smart, trying to track the shifting. Kraj comes in the same time as the other girl. No one else though. How curious is that?
My question is, if Lemot isn’t doing this is somehow DG saving us? That means DG knows me without the handkerchief or could sense its presence. Damn it. Esera gives her name. She’s from Borca. What a funny group we are.
I lie, of course, that I don’t have a handkerchief. I’m likely here just to give a good review anyway and they are here to spread it. They don’t much like that idea. So of course I must be DG or causing this problem. What utter horse dung. I guess it could be I sound the villain but it’s just ridiculous. As if my loud mouth would draw Lemot’s attention anyway?
We can’t get through the wooden timbers. They really seem to be burning. Poor dwarf burnt his hand. I’d feel bad but it was nothing and someone else had to check. It may not all be illusionary but there’s magic here, magic or a powerful mechanism. I don’t like it at all but we have to wait.
Yes, hilarious. The dwarf didn’t even believe the halls were moving. Thankfully he accepted the possibility when we found our paths blocked off. Still, none of the others. I wonder what happened to them… I’m afraid they’re dead anyway. So sad. This is a tragedy and we’re in it. Funny how the others don’t believe it’s all a farce. The actors didn’t either until it was too late. I wonder if we are being watched too? Besides Lemot of coruse.
The dwarf, Kraj, is a terrible hypocrite and a terrible letch. He’s using magic, stop trying to deny it. He mocks us, calls everyone wizards… Guilt much? I know all about our southern neighbor. Instead though it’s a joke about sex. He even tried to sleep on Esera. I thought he was sweet, smart, but now I’m wondering his real intentions. I do believe he wants out, and considering how ghastly this has all been. Well, he fell prey after all. Made himself very loud.
We monitor while the other two nap. Very kind of Arden to offer his blanket to Esera. He’s the gentleman here, clearly. He’s proving the smartest, trying to note any shifting halls and listening at least to my ideas. He seems to know a lot, perhaps too much, about this theater though. He’s from the city so maybe he helped…
No, not him. I don’t think these three could have. All wore the handkerchief. I can’t give them too much credit of intelligence. The problem is too much trust.
I go to sleep and Arden didn’t offer the blanket, but at least gave it up when asked. I suppose he likes the younger, innocent type. I can’t blame him, she’s pretty and seems a very competent healer. That’s what she called herself upstairs, but didn’t recognize any church. A free agent? Now that I can get behind. I’m glad I didn’t say that in front of the dwarf.
April 8th, the year 751 BC
I feel so stiff. I can’t wait to get to a nice bed with cotton sheets.
Kraj gave Arden a hard time for studying his spellbook. So eager to leave. I can understand but we need time to study. I only cast one spell so it was quick. Arden needed quite a while. Esera spent her meditative time, can’t we? I really had thought they left us behind, but no.
Esera wanted her stuff. Her stuff she got. Now I’m hoping some of that jewelry leads back to a creator, something we can track down for more answers. The dwarf wants money. Just ignore all the tragedy of the murders here. He wants something for his time. Pathetic.
Apparently my comment struck home. He vomited all over the stage. I forgave him. Arden went backstairs, shaking. He even tried to blindfold himself. Esera and I held it together. I even went down to explore, and set up an easy path for us to get out. You’re welcome… I didn’t need anyone pissing themselves or vomiting as we left. Some just can’t handle it and that’s fine. I guess they hadn’t thought about it enough?
Come to think of it Esera clearly was having a nightmare…
Not me. Look how rational I am. All an illusion to trick and kill and trap. Deranged mind Lemot has. Maybe he has a whole fleet of trapped wizards?
And crab creatures that eat the dead. We eventually lead forward and Arden identifies (he is smart) they are built to do their work. Apparently they are just scavengers but trying to climb through the dead seems foolish.
I devise a clever way to get out, through the ticket booth. It’s even free and clear for us to do so! You’re welcome, again.
Problem is the doors open to a cave and then one of the crabs attacks the dwarf and Arden. I hide behind that buckler I bought in case there was trouble. Nothing comes at me as they destroy it. Arden made his gun shoot electricity. Kraj accepted Esera’s magic in the most humorous way possible. I think he just likes the touching.
I’m so useless in a fight, but at least I can watch the foyer. The other crabs don’t even seem to care. Good, let’s get out. Okay, no Esera needs her armor first. That’s fine, can we go yet? I wish I had my horse, but it’s certainly not in a cave.
How did the theater move? I’m not going to say it again: powerful magic, maybe an illusion. I wonder if Lemot brings the theater here every time to clear out the bodies and then rebuild.
The sooner we get out this cave the better. I cast Expeditious Retreat. I want out of here and away from these people. While Kraj seems protective, Esera seems caring, and Arden is smart, I don’t trust them or their decisions. I’m gone as soon as I can get away.
I’m going to find a way to rid this theater of Lemot though. My review will be scathing! I don’t care if I have to call on every horse lord tied to the family, it will be sent to the farthest reaches and published in every paper!
