Krajkah, Lily and I went to check out the dead bandit to the north of the cave. Nothing much to find. I did take his whistle. Might come in handy. Lily studied him so she could make a disguise if needed.
Back with the group, I mentioned we could make an illusory plains cat come out pretending to have killed the bandit and we go with it. The plan seemed to work. They opened the gate and sent out one of their men.
He spotted us though. Bellrauthian and Lily killed him fast and the bandits went about closing the gate. I had the cat reappear and howl to scare them.
We all moved into the clearing. Krajkah put a fog cloud blocking the entrance so we could approach in safety. Someone heard a female voice say “Get Grast to safety.”
I ran quickly into the fog. The blood cat appeared from invisibility as she tried to claw me. She had pointy teeth and claws. I then moved out of her reach but she clawed and poisoned me. Still, I was able to channel magical energy not normally available to me and shrank the gate down into a soft version I could carry.
Bellrauthian and Krajkah charged in and engaged the blood cat in melee. A dwarf with powerful magic then used a dispel to remove the fog revealing many bandits in the corridor. Thankfully Esera put up a wind wall to block their arrows or we would have been done for.
The blood cat then used magic I’ve never seen or heard of before. Dark shadowy energy burst from her and all her bandits and our guards dropped, safe for Kuzma, and dazed the rest of us, sapping our energy in the process. She then manifested dark wings and flew backward but Bellrauthian was able to hit her hard, slowing her down.
More bandits appeared and fired arrows that were deflected by the wind wall.
The blood cat then went invisible but I covered her in glitterdust making any attempt at hiding a guaranteed failure. Lily tried to cacophonous call twice but she didn’t succumb to it.
Krajkah charged further down the corridor and found a big burly pig eyed man down a side corridor. My guess is he’s an enlarged caliban, but I suppose he could also be a giant or ogre of legend. You don’t see them in most of the core.
Bellrauthian’s snake then bit and wrapped itself around the blood cat. Her escape seemed quite unlikely.
But then the giant came out of the corridor, boxing Bellrauthian and Krajkah in. And to make matters much worse, the dwarf cast transmute rock to mud, trapping most of us and them.
By this time the poison had almost finished me off, but Esera was able to neutralize it with magic.
